June 27th is National PTSD Awareness Day
Today is National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day, a time to reflect on the challenges faced by many of my fellow veterans.
As a US Navy veteran and historian of World War II, I’ve studied and experienced the profound impact that traumatic events can have on individuals long after the battles end.
Understanding PTSD is the first step toward healing. Whether you served in the military or have experienced trauma in other walks of life, know that you are not alone and help is available.
Here are some resources that can offer support:
- National Center for PTSD: www.ptsd.va.gov – Extensive resources, including self-help tools and ways to get professional help.
- Veterans Crisis Line: Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and press 1, or text 838255. This line provides Immediate help for veterans and their families.
- Make the Connection: www.maketheconnection.net – Real stories from veterans about facing and overcoming PTSD.
Let’s take a moment to reach out, share our stories, and support each other.
Healing starts with awareness. 🙌🏻❤️🩹
